America’s Modern Mind: Devoid of God, Unsound, Fruitless

2 Timothy 1: 7

Romans 12:2

• NASB:  And do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind, so that you may prove what the will of God is, that which is good and acceptable and perfect.
• KJV:  And be not conformed to this world: but be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind, that ye may prove what is that good, and acceptable, and perfect, will of God.

The longer I walk with God, the more I realize that the mind of man (and nations) is stunted if devoid of the knowledge of the One True God.  A mind devoid of God is not sound; its core is missing.  It’s not functioning according to the purpose for which it was created, much as a car without an engine or a watch without a battery.  A person may even be classified as a genius, but if they know not the God who gave them their ability to think and communicate, or even worse deny His existence, they know nothing and are really blind fools chasing after some empty concept of “meaning” and a “quality” life.

We think because our Creator thinks.  We communicate because He communicates.  We speak because He speaks.  He passed these abilities to us from Himself at Creation.  We are made in His image.  We possess these qualities ONLY because our Creator does and passed them on to us.  How dark indeed is the mind that denies the One who created it, and how arrogant.  It really is stupendous in its stupidity, the height of ignorance and self-delusion, to use the mind given to us, the mouth given to us, the gift of thought and speech, to tell the Giver, you don’t exist, or to defy His rule over us.  But, of course, Scripture says it best, "The fool hath said in his heart, there is no God." (Psalm 14:1, KJV).

Nations also possess qualities of mind.  Nations are made of up people who collectively comprise the national mindset and form the national character, from the common person to the highest government official.  A nation is good or evil depending on the nature and character of its people and government.  In a representative republic like the United States, we elect people to political office to represent us in governing our country.  We choose representatives who most closely match our ideas of how to govern our local communities, our state, and in Washington D.C. at the federal level.  If a majority of the American people who vote are corrupt and godless, knowing not God or caring what He’s said about life and our conduct, they will elect corrupt, godless people to govern.  It’s not rocket science – we get the government we deserve.  If our government is dysfunctional and corrupt, it’s because we are dysfunctional and corrupt as a people, as a nation.  We’re dysfunctional when we don’t function and operate as intended by the One who created us.  God had a purpose for creating man.  It’s incumbent upon us to seek God and to inquire of Him, and to determine His purpose for our lives.

Apart from God, how do we, as Americans, determine the value and purpose of life, our own and that of others?  By what criteria do we direct our moral compass and chart a straight course for ourselves?  Where and how we find value and meaning is of the utmost importance to our well-being, mentally, physically and spiritually, and the well-being of our nation.  If we try to find value in material things or even other people, when those things disappear and the people leave or die, our value is diminished and our life can be left in shambles.  What determines my value? What am I worth?

Let’s pretend that you find a decorative, old, mosaic glass lampshade in the attic of a house you just bought. The glass is really dirty, caked with years of grime, won’t fit any of your lamps, and you don’t like the design or colors.  So you decide to throw the shade away.  But just as you’re about to toss it into the outdoor trash bin with all the other attic junk, the sun illuminates what looks like a word etched into the glass.  Out of curiosity you get a damp cloth and wipe away the dirt and grime until the word becomes clear.  Freed from years of hiding, now gleaming in the afternoon sun, the word “Tiffany” jumps out at you and gives your heart a jolt.  Turns out that old glass lampshade you were about to toss in the trash is worth a pile of money, enough money to pay off your new house, all your bills and provide a hefty sum for a very comfortable retirement.  Why?  Because the creator of the glass, Louis Comfort Tiffany, is known around the world for having created some of the highest quality glass.  Tiffany pieces are unique and extremely valuable.

If "Smith" or "Jones" had been etched under that dirt and grime, the lampshade would have been considered worthless and gone in the trash.  Or, if the name "Tiffany" was never noticed at all, you would have tossed a piece of property worth a small fortune in the trash.  We determine the value of clothes, jewelry, art, music, furniture, electronics, glass, pottery, pots and pans, virtually every material item by the name of the product’s creator, or brand.  But we don’t do the same for ourself.  Why?  There’s something very faulty in our thinking, indeed in our very thought processes, like an engine that misfires.  Our minds are off kilter and in need of transformation to be brought into line with our Creator's design.  We are told to "acquaint thyself with thy God" and it very much pleases Him when we set our minds to obey that command.  It's a lifelong journey of spiritual discovery and revelation that never gets old or boring, and can't even be completed in this lifetime, but will continue into the next and throughout eternity. Our Father, Creator, is truly an awesome God.

God Save the American Republic

The American people who believe in the U.S. Constitution and America’s representative form of government are no longer represented in any of the three branches of the U.S. Government.  We can never again afford to vote for candidates for the Presidency, the House or the Senate who hold the Constitution, and the people, in contempt, candidates that when elected put judges on the bench who violate the will of the people and overstep their constitutional judicial boundaries.  If we the people continue to vote for such candidates, the American Republic will be lost – it’s now hanging by a thin thread - and we the people will have no one to blame but ourselves.  Our children and grandchildren will curse us for our cowardice and flagrant disregard for our own freedom and for the loss of theirs.

The American Republic belongs to the American people.  If we don’t defend her, who will?  It’s our job to defend her – our role in her creation and her continuation.  Our founders intended it to be the sole responsibility of the American people to guard our liberties from all enemies, tyrants and interlopers, including our own government.  But in order to be equipped to defend the Republic, the people must first educate themselves on the U.S. Constitution and what it means to be a representative form of government as we were founded - not a democracy.  America’s government-run public schools no longer teach the truth about America’s founding, or her founders.  Our schools no longer teach our children about the rights AND POWERS conferred on the people by our founders in the Constitution.  The schools have intentionally dumbed down the American people’s civic education.  Why?  An ignorant populace is easily fooled and manipulated.  An ignorant electorate is easily and blindly ruled, not governed.  This is exactly where America stands today.

The American people are no longer governed or represented; we are now ruled by elitists who pass laws intended to control every aspect of our lives, while exempting themselves and their cronies.  Both political parties have been corrupted by liars and charlatans, false patriots possessing no allegiance to the U.S. Constitution.  They spout just enough constitutional-sounding verbiage during their campaigns to get elected.  They pay lip-service to that grand old document about which most Americans know nothing, which is why our elected officials get away with their deceptions.  Well, America, our time is up.  Now is the time for the people to defend the Republic, or surrender.  Our field of battle is the ballot box.  (This, by the way, is why the Democrat Party is working overtime to ensure that box is unguarded and open to fraud on a massive scale).  However, considering our current field of prospective candidates and the sad state of the two major political parties, things do not bode well for the survival of the Republic.

The Democrat Party has been lost to socialism for too long; it is now beyond recovery.  The Republican Party is almost lost but still shows some sign of life, though faint.  Resuscitation might be possible but the odds are against it because there are so few patriots within the GOP.  Most Republicans holding national office are blind sheep following cunning shepherds to the slaughter.  For the most part, the GOP has become a party of panderers and profiteers, much as the Democrat Party.  Unless brave, articulate, passionate, freedom-loving patriots join the party and begin to fight, the Republican Party will die the same death as the Democrat Party – and soon.

As she stands today, the Republican Party is almost as dangerous to the survival of the American Republic as the Democrat Party for one main reason.  Most of them are pretenders, false defenders of liberty who intentionally leave the walls of the Republic unguarded.  They pretend to love the U.S. Constitution and fight for her, but they lie.  They pretend to love freedom and defend the American people from big government encroachment, but they lie.  They pretend to hate socialism/communism, but they lie.  They pretend to fight for we the people, but they lie.  Therefore, they leave the people defenseless with no one fighting to preserve our rights and the Constitution.  Sheep recognize a wolf and will run for safety.  But the Republican Party has become the proverbial wolf in sheep’s clothing whose intent is to fool the sheep so they can be devoured without even putting up a fight.

Well, this is one former sheep (politically speaking) that has decided to put up a fight.  I will never again hold my nose and vote for a stealthy, Constitution hating, snake-oil peddler disguised as a conservative Republican.  I’m on the hunt for real conservatives, real Republicans, real American patriots, statesmen and women on par with our founders.  We need brave, bold, totally politically incorrect people to run for office and we need them now.  Their goal must be to save the American Republic, not build a political career and amass a personal fortune from taxpayer dimes.  The survival of the Republic is on the line and nothing less will do.  We need fighters at all levels of government to defend America and put her back on the path to a Constitutional Republic, or she is finished.  We need candidates who will tell the American people the truth about our dire financial condition and what needs to be done to fix it.  We need candidates who will advocate for the abolition of entire agencies of the Federal Government that are unconstitutional.  We need candidates who will demand an end to government programs designed to create slaves of the American people and make us dependents of the government, programs that encroach on our freedoms, rob us blind and contribute to our economic doom.  This will take courage.  It will also take an ability to directly confront not only politicians who oppose them, but the socialists that comprise the vast majority of America’s main stream media.  These deceivers of the American public need to be challenged and exposed, not feared or shunned.  Any future candidates I support and for whom I cast my vote will be of this quality and character.  I will support no other.  I, for one, will get behind an effort to establish a 3rd party if the Republican Party does not field such candidates as I’ve just described and return to its conservative, constitutional roots.

Will America survive?  I don’t know.  But I do know that America turned her back on Jesus Christ years ago, another great departure from the principles of her founding.  She told God in no uncertain terms to get out, to get out of her schools, to get out of her government, from the county office to the oval office, and to get out of the lives of her citizens.  America told God to keep His commandments off her children and out of her country.  God heard.  God always hears.  He also sees.  Mentioning God in this context may make some people uncomfortable or even angry.  I care not one whit if this happens.  There is a direct correlation between America’s departure from God and American’s lost freedoms, our economic decline, our moral decline, our social decline, our political and governmental decline, our institutional decline, our educational decline, and our declining reputation and waning influence around the world.  America’s terrible spiritual decline must be remedied if America is to be saved.  Americans are not only ignorant of the documents of our Nation’s founding and our political system, but worse, they are Biblically ignorant.  Americans no longer know God and don’t even have a basic understanding of His nature and/or His dealings with His creatures.  That is our real and present danger, the one that will bring America to ruin before any other.

The purpose of this blog is to discuss America and her relationship to the Creator of the Universe, or lost relationship, and how that relationship or lack thereof relates to her survival.  I want to tell my fellow Americans that there is a God, and only one, and He is absolutely sovereign.  You can read about Him in the Bible.  (I suggest getting the New American Standard Bible (NASB) version and start reading from the beginning, Genesis, chapter 1, verse 1).  God’s rule over His universe is absolute, over all people and all nations.  We live and die at His will, at His pleasure, in His time.  Nations rise and fall at His will.  This God still hates sin and will judge any person and any nation that turns their back on Him and continues to attempt to thwart His will.  America is no exception.  America, right now, today, is being chastised by God for her flagrant sin and total rejection of His rule.  She is on the verge of destruction by a God who not only forgives when we repent, but judges and destroys when we refuse to obey or heed His many warnings.

Americans have forgotten God.  Her politicians have forgotten God.  Her courts and judges have forgotten God.  Her parents and children have forgotten God.  Her teachers and students have forgotten God.  Well, America better remember God soon or she is finished, and the burning embers of her once great cities will soon start smoldering on the ash heap of history.  America will be just another testament to the truth that “pride goes before destruction” of even the most powerful of earthly kingdoms.

May God grant America mercy and grace to turn around, to turn back to Him before it’s too late.  I make this prayer humbly, as one who has been redeemed by Jesus Christ, and it is in His name that I pray for my earthly country.  God save America.
